CellTester addresses every limitation of traditional signal testing tools. It is a browser-based platform that runs on your phone or laptop, works with the router from your install stock, and supports every major cellular technology including 5G NR, NB-IoT, LTE Cat-M and 5G RedCap.
Your install kit is your test kit
The most important thing CellTester does differently is use your actual hardware. A Teltonika RUT200 or RUTX50 from your van stock is the test device. The antenna you are mounting on the wall is the test antenna. The signal data comes from the modem and antenna combination the customer is actually getting - not a generic internal module in a handheld box.
This is a fundamental difference. An installer testing with a dedicated signal tester gets indicative coverage data. An installer testing with CellTester and their install hardware gets real installation data.
Automated operator sweep
With a roaming or multi-network SIM, CellTester locks to each available operator in turn, captures all signal metrics and runs a speed test. The process is fully automated and takes two to four minutes. At the end, every available operator is ranked by signal quality and speed. CellTester recommends the best primary operator and the best failover option for that specific site.
This replaces a manual process that takes twenty minutes and produces inconsistent results depending on how long the engineer waits on each network before noting the reading.
Live directional antenna aim mode
For LPDA, panel and Yagi antennas, CellTester provides a live signal display that updates every 0.6 seconds. As the antenna is rotated, the RSRP value and a running history graph update in real time. Peak signal is detected automatically and flagged. The engineer locks the antenna at the peak position before securing the mount.
This is not possible with a handheld tester. The handheld tester is in the engineer's hand, not in the position the antenna will occupy. CellTester reads signal from the router with the antenna in its final mounting position.
MIMO antenna port analysis
For 2×2 and 4×4 MIMO installations, CellTester reads RSRP from each antenna port individually. It calculates the delta between ports and rates the balance. A delta of more than 3 dB warrants investigation - a 10 dB+ delta typically indicates a connector fault or cable problem. The analysis is included in the commissioning certificate with specific remediation advice where issues are found.
Configuration push
Based on the sweep results, CellTester's configuration wizard recommends and applies settings to the router via the RutOS API. Primary operator PLMN, failover network, band lock, ping watchdog targets, keep-alive intervals and power saving settings are all configurable from the CellTester interface. No need to navigate the router web GUI for post-installation optimisation.
Security scanning
If the installation uses a public SIM IP, CellTester automatically scans the WAN IP for exposed ports and known CVEs. Exposed RTSP streams, DVR management ports, Hikvision and Dahua SDK ports, open SSH and Telnet are all detected and flagged. The security scan result is included in the commissioning certificate.
PDF commissioning certificate
At the end of every commission, CellTester generates a professional PDF certificate. It includes the router model and firmware, SIM ICCID and operator, all signal metrics with ratings, antenna port analysis, speed test results, operator sweep rankings, configuration applied and security scan status. A PASS / PASS WITH ADVISORIES / FAIL verdict is assigned based on the complete data set.
